一年一度的元宵節又到了
元宵節的活動不外乎就是提燈籠、看燈會

燈籠的英文是Lantern，所以元宵節的英文就叫做 Lantern Festival

除了提燈籠之外，元宵節還有一個很有趣的活動--猜燈謎

在這裡，特地準備了英文燈謎(English Riddle)

希望大家在趣味猜謎的同時，也能學到幾個英文單字!

Q: Why did Jack throw butter out of a window?

為什麼Jack把奶油丟出窗外?
A: Because he wants to see "butterfly".
因為他想要看到蝴蝶。

奶油的英文是Butter，飛的英文是Fly

而蝴蝶的英文是Butterfly

Q: How do we make seven even?

怎麼樣讓7變成雙數?
Take the "s" away.

把”s”拿掉就可以了

英文的單數是odd, singular，雙數是even
讓seven(7)變成even(雙數)，就只要把”s”拿掉就好了。

Q: How are trees, cars, and elephants alike?
樹木、車子、大象的相同之處在哪?

A: They both have a trunk!

因為他們都有”trunk”

在英文裡，“Trunk”有很多種意思

樹木的”樹幹”、車子的”後車廂”、大象的”象鼻”。

Q: What room has no walls, no doors, no windows, and no floors?

什麼樣的房間沒有強、沒有門、沒有窗戶，也沒有地板?

A: Mushroom.

為什麼”微笑(smiles)”是最長的英文單字?

A: Because there is a mile between S and S.

因為在兩個”S”中間，隔了一英哩(mile)

“Mile”是英哩的英文，是國外常用的距離單位

1 mile一英哩 = 1.6 kilometers 1.6公里
